Google who started as a search company added the email arm to its portfolio in April 1, 2004 and named the email service Gmail which in other words stands for Google Mail. What started like an “April Fool’s” program has now grown beyond expectations.
As at now Gmail is used by a whopping 1.5 billion users every month displacing Yahoo Mail who can now only boast of 228 million users; other email service like AOL Mail and Hotmail had since fizzled out because of the Gmail power to grow.
Android and You Tube were also at a point bought over by Google to swell its ranks and these two internet service are said to be the biggest in the industry; it is known that 1 out of every 10 phones in the world use the Android operating system owned by Google.
You Tube also has become the top most video sharing platform in the world with both You Tube and Android having more than 1 billion users across the globe.
The coming of Instagram though has slowed the growth of You Tube to an extent but it has yet not become a major concern at the moment because of the longer video length of You Tube compared to Instagram.
Google has not had it all rosy as its chat platform Gchat which later became Hangout has remain low key compared to others like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. One of Google social network package named Google+ has been also been shut down for lack of performance.
